Snake in the grass

"There are Grass Snakes swimming 25 yards up the canal" said the guy at Radford Bottom Lock. We didnt see any snakes in the canal or any snakes in the grass for that matter. I did see 4 moorhen chicks sitting on a branch like something out of a disney cartoon though. But I failed to get a picture.

Left the Cape of Good Hope this morning in Warwick at about 0930. Nice pint of Two Locks ale there last night. Its a unique brew by Hook Norton Brewery for the pub. Unlike the "Tom of the Wood" at Turners Green where we hd been Saturday night. A really attractive pub but the beer had been awful. Gassy John Smiths ice cold. I only had a half and I left a fair bit of that. Such is the state of English pubs.
Paused in Leamington for supplies.(see below)

At bridge 35 you burst out of the Leamington suburbs into open country again. This is my 56th birthday and this is good way of enjoying it. Stopped at Kate boats for fuel as I like to give them custom as they were very prompt last year when i had a breakdown. Incidently the new charging system fited to SL seems to be working verywell charging heavily for the first hour and half then tailing off giving you a much quicker charge than the conventional system fitted previously.
We have settled into a good routine with these wide Grand Union locks and are gettingthrough them at reasonable speed despite there being only two of us.
Now as its my birthday some pictures with me on it at 56!

And its now off to the Two Boats Inn for dinner!
